So...it's been a month and a half... (2/14/2010)

Holy Bloody Hell!!! It's been a month and a half and I'm just now back, and you know what's the really scary thing about it all...I'm still in the top ten g1's.  Ok...technically it's been almost two months since I was really here, so here's what happened:  LIFE.  Yeah, it sucks.  Basically, the internet at my new house doesn't work...at all.  Found that out the first week there and have barely been getting by.  Luckily, I've been getting brief spurts of e-mail access on my phone, but that's it.  I haven't been able to get my laptop online anywhere near my home.  However, it seems I do get the occasional bit of reprieve, and online access I shall get.

Now that the ramble about being gone is done...here's it in translated in English:  I moved in December because of some familial issues.  It had been planned, but what hadn't was that the house I moved into didn't have a phone line connected to it.  Sure, it had the phone jacks, but the phone company had removed the lines due to disuse over a number of years.  As such, they want an arm and a leg to return the service lines, which they shouldn't have been able to take down (tangent for another time), and I only have the two of each.  If I had three...well, I'd join a carnival troupe and get a satellite card, but I don't, so not internet at all.  It'd also make me a really kick ass PC gamer...much better than I am.
So no internet, and as all of my classes are online for school this semester, it makes things hard.  My time at a computer has mostly been filled with that, or answering quick e-mails to my friends and family, leaving little time for my favorite website.  However, every once in a while, I'm getting some time to come on, maybe watch a video or two, but that's about it.
Now, I'm on a trip for a week to my grandmother's (she's sick, needs help, end of story), and she has really good internet, so I'm back for a week...at least.  There's got to be some kind of silver lining, right?
Without the internet though, I have had a lot of time for games...and I do mean a LOT.  I finally finished getting all of the Mass Effect 1 achievements (2's still waiting).  I also got the time to beat Final Fantasy VI, finish up XII, and sit down and actually beat Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories.  Save for the last one, I've put a lot of time into the games respectively (CoM, with Riku's tale wasn't all that long, really), especially since I always go for the 100% Completed.
Mass Effect was fun...duh, but after about the 40th A.I. Hack you want to throw the game, the Xbox, and the TV they're attached out the window into the snow.  FFVI is amazing, and I'm sad that it took me so long to beat it.  The entire second half makes up for everything slow about the first, and then some.
On the flip side, the other Final Fantasy game I was having trouble finishing also got through, and while I do want to check out the other games in the Ivalice Alliance, I found that the first bit of the game and the final part of it were it's strong suits, and that the middle portion was more or less a chore.  That makes sense though...I feel the same way about the original Star Wars Trilogy, which XII is a love letter from Square Enix to.  I love A New Hope, I love the last half of Jedi, but save for Yoda and Boba Fett, Empire wasn't my favorite.  Yeah, I know...I lose so many geek points for that, but just how I feel.  Not as dull as Episode I, but still, hard to watch for me.
Finally, RE: Chain of Memories, is good but short.  Unlike it's GBA counterpart, if you can play Re: Chain, you can kick ass at any other Kingdom Hearts game.  Seriously, go play it on Proud Mode, then put in the original KH and take on Sephiroth on hard at level 60.  If you can't beat him...I dunno, but he was just insanely easy after beating Re: Chain.  It just takes the difficulty curve and ramps it up at a 89.9 degree curve (in other words, all but straight up).  I like it.  Also, getting to play as Riku in 3D is much more fun than the 2D version.
Anyways, that's been the last two months or so for me.  I'm back now for a week, maybe more, and I hope to be on here a lot.  Hope everyone has had a good year thus far, and I hope I get to talk to you all again soon.
