Yesterday, I announced that I would be starting up the second season of My Favorite Games, and since I've something planned for right at the beginning (Chuck if you're reading this and spoil it...I'll track you down) and I've been away for so long, I decided to make Season 1 of Sara's Favorite Games the first 12 articles in it, plus the season finale, episode 13.
Because of such, Season 2 will start soon with a classic list that I've been working on since I first started really being an active member of ScrewAttack. However, before that happens, I thought I should write a recap of Season 1.
1.1 - Liscensed Games: What was an experiment in list making as one of my early blogs really worked well, and was a good pilot to the series. It could only go up from there.
1.2 - Game Soundtracks: One I later wished I had had more experience with media before I decided to work on it. It was an attempt at a different kind of list about music in games, going for the whole soundtrack rather than just a song.
1.3 - Road Trip Games: A list I did simply because I was on the road a lot Thanksgiving week, I decided to give gamers a list of good ones to take with them when they hit the roads. I still haven't seen another one like it out there, but if I'm wrong, please correct me.
1.4 - Most Hated Games: A list of games I despise for one reason or another. One of these games actually received a reprieve this Spring, and wound up one of my favorites.
1.5 - RPG's: Discounting Zelda as my standard for all RPG's, this list turned out pretty well...though, what really annoyed me was some of the hate mail I was getting for it coming out so shortly after something else. I think it was right around here that I took the top spot, and being pretty much a nobody previous to V4, this upset some folks.
The Birthday Mini-Series
As I neared my twenty-first birthday, I had become an extremely active member of the site, and decided that for my next five blogs, I'd write about things I'd love to do, see, or own from a video game.
1.6 - Items: What was actually going to be a stand alone actually inspired the wish list series. What would be awesome if is someone could draw a picture of someone using all this stuff though. Now that would be pretty incredible.
1.7 - Wanted Games: Similar to the E3 Lists we've been seeing a lot lately, this list was a set of games that I'd really like to play that simply don't exist yet, but would be awesome if they did.
1.8 - Games I Wished I Owned: A lot of these were older games I simply missed out on. However, three of the list, The Minish Cap, Super Metroid, and Banjo Tooie are now in my possession...so the list will have to get an edited for 2010.
1.9 - Vacations: Who hasn't wanted to actually explore a world in a video game unhindered by the controls of the game? And to relax? That would be awesome.
1.10 - Birthday Presents: What basically amounted to my list of best birthday presents involving video games, though also included my somewhat embarrassing tale of the Nintendo Dance.
1.11 - Casual Games: Ah, casual games...while most think of them as detractors to good games, I generally think of them as great time wasters. If you need to waste a little time, here's a good list for you.
1.12 - Influential Games of the Decade: Yet again, I take a popular list and turn it on it's side. Expect such with the current popular lists, but this one, most people were doing the best games of the decade...well, there were a lot of good games, and as I can't narrow down my top ten games of all time without cheating a little, doing so for the decade could be hard as well. As such, I made the list of games I thought to have had the most impact on the gaming industry as a whole since 2000.
So check them out, let me know what you think, and watch for 1:13 coming out soon. Shout out to the person (or people) who can guess which one I'll be turning into something new.
