Neither the douche nor the Emo Git are on here, and I don't want to hear about it, this is my list. Also, IX won't be making an appearance, simply because I still haven't played it. If you'd like to donate a copy...yay, but until then, please don't gripe about it not appearing. The same for Douche and Emo Git's games (VII and VIII, respectively).
So, without further ado, straight into the list.
10. Faris Schewiz, a.k.a. Sarisa Tycoon
Ok, I know, I'm cheating, Faris is a girl...however, she was revealed as a guy, so I'm using that technicality to get my favorite FF Heroine on the guy's list, because she's just that awesome she deserves to be on the list twice. Hell, I may put her on as a summon too just because I feel like it. I was tempted to put Seifer here...making my list kinda VI heavy, but then I remembered what a douche he was in KH2, again.
9. Clyde Arrowny, a.k.a. Shadow
The man behind the black mask. Shadow is a very mysterious and tragic character. However, while his mysterious nature surrounding his past gets him on the list, the fact that his reasoning for such knocks him down. Dads that ditch their kids aren't really that cool.
8. Vaan
Yeah, I know I'm gonna get flack for him being on her when certain other people aren't, but I really like Vaan. Yeah, he was really just a big annoyance in XII, but in Revenant Wings, he endeared himself to me but just being his wannabe Sky Pirate self. The fact that he's a full fledged Sky Pirate in A2 also gets a nod, but I haven't played it yet, so...I can't really say how it affects the character yet.
7. Sabin Rene Figaro
Dude suplexed a mother fuckin' train. He's on the list.
6. Tidus
Tidus is a whiny little shit, but he's never looking out for number one...well unless you count constantly trying to get up Yuna's summoning robes. He genuinely wants to help Yuna...then again, what else is he going to do at this point.
5. Basch fon Ronsenburg
What can I say about this guy? He's freaking Obi Wan Kenobi combined with Luke Skywalker who's been wrongly imprisoned and has since become a major bad ass. That's really kinda cool. The fact that he blames himself entirely for the state the world's in (ok, kinda his fault, but not entirely) makes him all mopey, but not in an over emotional kind of way.
4. Kain Highwind
Remember my love of anti-heroes. Kain is an anti-hero. The first one on this list, in fact. So, yeah...anti-heroes the rest of the way...woo! Poor Kain...he cries every time he listens to "Jessie's Girl" and he got brainwashed. Some guys just have it real rough.
3. Cecil Harvey
Ok, before you start arguing with my statement that the rest were anti-heroes, keep in mind who this character would be if any other playable character was the protagonist. He's a dark knight that about halfway makes the transition to that of a holy paladin. That's pretty anti-heroey to me.
2...wait, there is no number two. There's instead a tie for first.
1. Ffamran mied Bunansa, a.k.a. Balthier (I'd change my name, too)
Dude's a sky pirate out for treasure who's aims turn noble when he realizes the world's at stake...or he finds himself attracted to Princess Ashe...take your pick. I choose to take the romantic stance with him. The fact that his father's just bat shit insane and possessed by Vanar also gives him a reason to fight too, but he doesn't know that when he starts helping out.
1. Auron
Who is Auron? He's a quiet guy, doesn't say much at all, but when he does, you better take heed of everything he says...or else. His real reason for being a part of the group is his promise to his friends, but it never really goes into why he joined up with Jecht and Braska. Besides that, he's a monk samurai, that's a cool thought completely on its own.
So, is there someone on this list you disagree with? Was my somewhat overusage of IV, VI, X, and XII a little too noticeable? Do you think I really missed an awesome character? Let me know who, and why that character should be on the list.
