Sara's Top Ten E3 Predictions (and the ones that came true) - Season 1 Finale (6/18/10)

So before E3, I decided to turn the E3 Predictions lists on its side. The way I was gonna do this was that I was gonna put together a list of the top ten things I didn't want to see...however, someone beat me to it (if it was you, I'm sorry, I looked for 30 minutes to find your blog, but I can't remember, so send me a message).

Anyways, my second one was doing a prediction list that was posted after E3 with the results of them, and yes, I know Stickman got there before me as well, but this is my only real E3 top ten, so nyeh!!!

First off, an honorable mention. I usually try to avoid these, but this time, it was necessary, as I really expected Square Enix to show up and wow us with something. Instead we got a hint at a new Kingdom Hearts for 3DS and a little more info on FFXIV. Sad, really. Well, TGS and Jump Fiesta are coming up, so we might see something then.

Now on to the list itself.

10. Halo Reach and The Old Republic, the two games I'm excited for already not made by Nintendo aren't really present at E3. This was, sadly, mostly true. Both were there, both had a new trailer, and TOR was hands on on the floor as Ben showed us. However, not much of the story has been revealed since the chronicler's prologues. Reach on the other hand we only saw a little trailer.

9. Sony's show not the worst of the three major conferences. Last year, I know it was Nintendo, and Sony did the best, but this year, Nintendo had at least Zelda coming out and that made it an instant winner to most gamers. The fact that they went to the next level, just made it the more phenomenal. Then Microsoft's conference...damn, that sucked more than Ubisoft's has in the last few years, including this one's yawn worth performance. Sony quickly grabbed the number two spot, and I'm sure they were happy for it.

8. Yet another Sonic will be announced that's not Sonic 4. I had a feeling we'd see this long before Colors was announced. I figured it was coming because Sonic Team's been sending a game out the gates twice a year, and counting 4, I figured we'd see another soon, too. I was right, and you know what? It looks awesome. Here's hoping that's not just looks.

7. Actual info announced about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow's story. Ok, some of this may have been given and I've just missed it, but...what the hell, Konami? Why no new real story info? If I've missed something from the Konami show, please let me know, as I expected a lot more than the trailer we got.

6. Banjo Kazooie 4 announced. Yeah...Kinect Sports kinda threw Rare's capacity for good games of late way out the window. That really sucked, and maybe we'll see a return to form eventually...hopefully...possibly...ok, not really, but wishful thinking never hurt.

5. Kid Icarus returns...finally. Well...sort of...we're getting a new Kid Icarus game, but it's an on the rails shooter, ala Sin and Punishment and Star Fox, so, I'm not sure yet. I hope that was just the flying level we've seen thus far of Uprising (kinda like the late in the game sequence from the original title, as Pit is an adventurer, and I'd really like to see him return as such.

4. A new IP announced to get me excited over. Some new IP's were announced...but nothing that was just, "Hey, look at me, I'm awesome...don't you wanna play me?". Kinda sad really, and hopefully, I just missed it, but until then...this one didn't come to pass.

3. Nintendo announces a new console. Well, this one kinda came to pass. We got the 3DS, which while not a new TV based system, is a new handheld, and one that actually looks as good as the Gamecube, which is rather impressive. Can't wait to see more of it.

2. Natal SUCKS!!! Ok...I really wanted this motion controller to work, and the new name, Kinect (which I've already put my theory about the name out there) is crap. Every time it's been seen thus far it looks like crap. What's worse, is every single one of the showings this time looked fake...maybe it's just what I saw, but wow! They looked way scripted.

1. On the flipside, Zelda will kick ass. So far, yeah, it looks like it will, however, with only a small trailer and a little bit of hands on, we still don't know what the games about, and who's the little fairy girl (don't want to hear about her being the sword fairy, I know the theory)? I want to know who she is really, and what this story's about.

So that's my list of predictions...only three didn't happen, and I wish a few more hadn't...specifically 2 and 10, but alas, we're stuck with what we got.

So, what predictions did you make? Did they come true? How do you feel about them now?
