Sara's Top Ten Games I want to Play (11/28/09)

Ok, this list continues my wish list series that was started this morning (the GameStop open letter was a situational thing based on the moment).  If you haven't figured out why I'm doing this, I suggest you click on the blue hyperlink for my name above.  It should make it a little more obvious, hopefully.

Anyways, this is a list of games, types of games, or characters I want to see made into games, remade altogether, or given a sequel.  If there's any question about what this means, as their might be, ask me in the comments section.

#10  A Modern Day Zelda game - Ok, this ranks rather low on the list for a number of reasons. Mostly though it's because it's been discussed, in part, and various groups have even made April Fool's Pranks about it.

Wii TV's "Link to the Future" Prank

However, I think it could work as a modern day type game, rather than a simply futuristic title.  Sure, Link might ended up a color pallete swap of Alex Mercer from Prototype, but would that be such a big deal.

I really need to learn Photoshop, heh heh, but picture green hoodie, brown leather jacket, khaki pants, and it being the Master Sword rather than his sword hand.  Anyways, if that blue fairy is the Master Sword, then it could become an interesting mechanic of it manifesting as the sword, and could explain Link's uncanny ability to store wagonloads worth of items on his person.

#9  An action based MMORPG - Oh Phantasy Start Online, what happened?  You were amazing, you melded the greatness that was Zelda with multiplayer in a 3D plain.  And then you released Phantasy Star Universe.  Why oh why did it happen like this?  Oh...right...Dreamcast failure...curse those who didn't buy the awesome console.

The Difference between this piece of shit and this epic title is readily apparent in the boxart style alone.

#8  A The Dresden Files Game - For those unaware of the series, think Harry Potter for adults...and a lot cooler, with a lot more mythology backing it up.  He fights demons, dark faeries, fallen angels, vampires, and more, with his blasting rod, staff, sword, and revolver.  He get's help from a Chicago cop assigned to the unexplainable, his Incubi half-brother, and his best friend, a Knight of the Cross.  I mean the story alone, some of the epic set pieces, and the possible combat could be truly epic.  If only Sci-Fi (now SyFy...more on that at a later date), hadn't liscenesed it for a TV show and Constantine been made into a movie, we might've seen something like this...but then it might not have been as good as it could be.

Vol. 1 of the Graphical Novel adaptation of the first book in the series.

#7  A Heroes Game - Oh dear, another liscensed adaptation.  Heroes is a so-so series about people who wake up with powers X-men style, but unlike X-men, there's no real force bringing them together.  Gameplay could range from Dragon Ball Z like fights to third person shooting segments to using powers to solve puzzles and save people.  Think Ultimate Alliance, but with characters still in their origin story.

#6  A New Buffy the Vampire Slayer Console Game - Ok, last one that's strictly a liscensed game wish.  I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the games about it have been pretty good, on the console anyways.  Last year, a new one came out for the DS (five years after it'd gone off the air).  I want one on the consoles that's as good as the one on the Xbox, if not better.  It could be based on Season 8's comic, that would make me really happy.

Buffy Season 8 - The Long Way Home TPB

#5  Banjo-Kazooie 3 - No one considers Nuts and Bolts a real sequel to Banjo-Tooie, do they?  I mean, that was horrible, and felt nothing like the Rare platforming adventures that came out on the N64.  What happened, guys?  You were the best at this, and now, it's like you don't remember how to do it.

The Bear and the Bird, how we miss you both.

#4  A good Sonic Game - As with Banjo-Kazooie, Sonic just needs a new game, that feels as good as the 2D platformers of old or the 3D awesomeness that was the Dreamcast titles.  Hopefully, Project Needlemouse delivers on one of these.

#3  Flight - There have been games about flying planes, ones where you could glide, but there's never been one where your character's ability was flight.  Kid Icarus was the closest we've ever come, thus far.  But imagine that in 3D with him being able to fly throughout and explore the world Zelda style...oh, now that would be an amazing game.  Please, Nintendo, if you are making a Kid Icarus game, give Pit this ability.

Pit, as seen in Brawl

#2  A good Spider-Man 3 or Ultimate Spider-Man 2 - Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite games, and was the first I ever wrote a review on (not just on here, but elsewhere, too).  I liked Ultimate Spider-Man as well.  So was it so wrong to expect Spider-Man 3 to be more of the same wonderful game?  Apparently so.  As such, I want a good version of that game or a sequel to Ultimate Spider-Man.  Please stop publishing these horrid Spider-Man games like 3 and Web of Shadows...I want a good Spider-Man game.

If I can only get to that development room, I can stop them from making another bad Spider-Man game.

#1  Shenmue 3 - Seriously now.  Shenmue is one of my favorite series and it ends on a cliffhanger.  Finish the series, please, don't leave us hanging.  With the new success of Virtua Fighter 5 and his inclusion in Sega All Star Racing, now would be a great time to make a port of the first two games and start work on a third one.  Maybe even feature Ryo as a figher in Virtua Fighter 6.  It would be awesome, Sega.

"Please help me, my face has been set in this determined bad ass look for a decade and it's starting to hurt."

So yeah, that's my wish list for games.  What's yours?  Also, who's figured out why I'm doing this yet?  Cookie to the first person to get it.

-Sara
